A way of life in a poem

By titia.maas@web.de

Lately, I’ve been trying to figure out what w{e}mbrace is really all about. I wasn’t sure, whether to continue this blog or focus solely on my book and my upcoming new business. Yet somehow I keep coming back to the word Embrace.

It has indeed become my word. More so, it has become My way of living. It’s often hard to translate feelings into words. So I wrote a little poem.

A way of life

Let’s wonder together under the stars
There’s so much between the Earth and Mars
Let’s never lose our curiosity
Yet from time to time pace our velocity
Let’s be our nicest self
Also to ourself
Let’s play and toy and touch and feel
Let’s realize life is a small ánd a big deal
So let’s dance and sing and kiss and love
and gracefully embrace
Let’s paint a smile on someone face

Life comes with all facets and colors
There are winters and summers
Let’s embrace all of it
Even when we ought to admit
That life isn’t always sugar sweet
Things can knock us off our feet
We can’t always decide
whom and what we greet
But we can put our arms around it
Embrace it
All of it
No day is the same
All part of the game
No rain no flowers
The hours are ours
So let’s dance and sing and kiss and love
and gracefully embrace
Let’s paint a smile on someone face

Life is not a rat race
Let’s take some time
To breathe and sooth
Time to find one’s personal truth
Mine says; There is always time
to huddle for a subtle cuddle
Kindness is no small feat
It will never be obsolete
So let’s dance and sing and kiss and love
and gracefully embrace
Let’s paint a smile on someone face

Keep embracing, Titia. I love the positive energy you put into the world. The sentiment of your poem and your words about rain and dancing reminded me of a wonderful quote by Vivian Greene: “Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass … it’s about learning to dance in the rain.”

Thanks, Les. That is a wonderful quote indeed.
