Learn to mesmerise

By titia.maas@web.de

Silbermond

My favorite song of the day is the German song “Krieger des Lichts” from Silbermond. The lyrics are incredibly powerful.

At some point Stefanie Kloß sings: “Lerne zu fesseln und zu befreien” This is one of those moments when I see the true beauty of language.

Looking for English translations I found on Lyricstranslate :

  • Learn to attract and to set free
  • Learn to chain and to liberate/rescue
  • Learn to enthrall and free
  • Learn to enchain and to set free

My version:

  • Learn to mesmerise and to release

Mesmerise; a wonderful new word for my personal lexicon. Entrance, fascinate, absorb, captivate, grip, enthral, hypnotize, magnetize, hold spellbound, spellbind

“There was something about her which mesmerized him.”  I love to be mesmerized…

Couldn’t an embracement be mesmerizing as well?

Side Note: Along the way I have infected my daughter with my love for this song. The official video is too creepy in her opinion so on Feb 14th we decided to make our own little video :-)

We cannot really sing but we had a very joyful afternoon: http://www.touchcast.com/titia/das_ist_ein_aufruf_an_alle_krieger_des_lichts
