The great thing about the word “should”

By titia.maas@web.de

Do you have many people around you, that tell you what you should be doing? Or do you feel yourself, that you should do many things, which you aren’t doing?

Here is one great thing to know about the word “should”.

The great thing is: You have a choice.

Unless “should” disguises a real “must”. An easy way to find out is asking yourself: “What happens if I don’t?” Is anyone going to die? Honestly, what will happen, if you don’t do, what you feel, you should be doing?

Usually “should” can be replaced by multiple options: I want to, I can; or the exact opposite: I do not want to, I can’t; or even a combination like: I can but I do not want to right now.

In other words we have a choice. We don’t have to do what we should do.

You do not have to read this text right now :-) Just like I do not need to post everyday. But I want to, because I enjoy doing so.

I wish you a great day, doing what you enjoy doing.
